North Beaches of Tenerife
It's not easy to pinpoint which are the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. We could say they are all beautiful, and they indeed are. So we just need to choose those that have something special, either in terms of their shape or the scenery they are set in. The first distinction we make is between north beaches and south beaches. In this itinerary, we recommend the north beaches, divided by town. On this page, you will find the south beaches with an itinerary that starts from the lower tip of the north.
Beaches of Garachico
The most interesting beach in this beautiful town in the southern area is El Caletón, which is located right in the urban center, adjacent to the promenade. It is made up of a series of natural seawater pools and lagoons, ideal for children as well. In fact, these are pools formed between the lava flows that plunged into the sea. You can get there with bus lines 363 (Puerto de la Cruz-Buenavista) and 107 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Buenavista).
Beaches of Puerto de La Cruz
Anyone visiting Puerto should spend at least a day at the natural pools of the Martianez Lake Complex. You can find all the information on the page dedicated to Puerto de La Cruz. Just a few meters away is Playa Jardin, a recently restored beach using about 200,000 cubic meters of sand extracted from the nearby sea floors. The beach is protected by a semi-submerged reef. All around there are about 17,000 square meters of gardens and all the services one can imagine. It is a Blue Flag beach.
Beaches of La Orotava
The Orotava Valley is a natural gem that dives into the sea from the summit of Teide. Here you will find the beach of El Bollullo, 400 meters of volcanic sand and crystal-clear water surrounded by beautiful cliffs. The beach is not very famous, also because you can only get there on foot from the El Bollullo restaurant, in the El Rincón area of the municipality of La Orotava. After a short path through the palm trees, you will find the beach, which is also equipped with a small kiosk for food and drinks. To get there, you must reach the area of El Rincon, pass the San Diego restaurant, and then continue down a narrower path to the Bollullo restaurant; there is a paid parking lot here. Those using public transport should take bus 376 (La Orotava-El Rincon). It leaves every two hours. For surfing, nudism, or both, you can choose the nearby Los Patos beach. The access is not easy, but that's why the beach is not very crowded. It is located in the El Rincón area and is about 1 kilometer long. All around are cliffs and banana crops. It's located after the El Bollullo beach, followed by Playa del Pozo. The area is dangerous, because the sea is almost always rough and there are no protective reefs. A few kilometers from here is El Socorro Beach, which is located in the municipality of Los Realejos.
Beaches of Tacoronte
Those who love to eat fresh fish after swimming should go to the small beach of El Pris, which is located near the homonymous fishing village. You can get there via the road that crosses through the local Calvario from Tacoronte. Nearby is Playa del Arena, which you reach by taking the detour between Tacoronte and Valle Guerra. You continue on foot through a tunnel. The beach is very beautiful, with a huge rock that serves as a natural barrier against the tides. For this reason, it is very crowded. You can get there with the buses: 021 (Tacoronte-mesa del mare), 023 (Tacoronte-El Pris), 101 (Puerto de la Cruz-Santa Cruz de Tenerife) to Tacoronte and then transfer to 021 or 023.
Beaches of La Laguna
In the territory of La Laguna, in the municipality of Bajamar, there are a series of seawater pools, ideal for both adults and children, along with numerous bars and restaurants. Between Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo is Playa del Arenal, which you can reach via a path that starts from the road near the old Neptuno hotel. The bus lines that reach it are 050 (Bajamar- Punta del Hidalgo), 105 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Bajamar-Punta del Hidalgo), and 102 (Puerto de la Cruz-Santa Cruz), then taking 105.
Beaches of Santa Cruz de Tenerife North
Santa Cruz has a very vast territory, so it includes beaches from the north and the south. For the latter, we recommend reading the itinerary dedicated to the south beaches of Tenerife. The north beaches that fall within the municipality of the capital are those from the extreme northern tip of the island, including Playa de el Roque, Almagica, and Benijos. Beyond the municipality of Taganana is Playa del Roque de las Bodegas, with clear waters and the backdrop of the Anaga Rocks Park. Near the beach are excellent restaurants serving fresh fish. Continuing along the road next to the sea, you will reach the beach of Benijos and then Draguillo beach. You can also get there by bus lines: 246 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-san Andres-Taganana-almaciga)
